Residency and Public Play at Primary

During a week-long residency at Primary, Assunta and Lou Art Club collaborated with sculptor Ellie Barrett and her daughter Nora to explore artistic co-production between parents and children.
Bringing together their different approaches to making, the two artist-parent and child duos experimented with drawing, painting, digital printing, sculpture, found objects and everyday materials. The residency provided an opportunity to develop new work together, exploring how children contribute to artistic decisions and processes as collaborators and co-authors.
The residency culminated in Public Play, a public event on 8 August 2026, inviting children and their families to experiment with the materials and approaches developed during the week and participate in an open-ended process of collective making.
